Ticks
and mites are visible by observing tiny parasites on the skin
of your snake. Generally you will be able to see them without
the aid of a magnifying lens although in the early stages
it may be necessary. They can often cary diseases that can
be harmfull to your snake if infected. Subpar living conditions
for your snake are a prime reason for tick and mite infestations.
Consult with your veternarian as
soon as possible to ensure it does not get out of hand. These
types of external parasites usually make their home in between
the scales on the snake. Your veterinarian will be able to
offer you a solution that will completely rid your snake of
the parasites. Many snake owners attempt to remove them by
hand which may temporarily help but it will not get to the
root of the problem and the infestation will quickly start
up again.
