| The Chinese hamster is almost as small as a dwarf
hamster but is not actually classified as one. Male Chinese
hamsters are slightly larger than their female counterparts
and reach sizes of approximately 10 cm in length. They very
closely resemble the look and shape of mice which is one reason
they are not as popular as Russian or Syrian
hamsters. Chinese hamsters are known for being very timid
by nature and frequently dart across their cage if they are
attempted to be handled. They are however very good natured
in the sense that they rarely bit humans. In order to help reduce
their timidness they should be frequently handled from a young
age. This will help them become accustomed to the touch of a
human. |
