A couple of times during the
life of a female hamster, vaginal bleeding
may occur. They do not have proper and regular menstrual cycles
as human females do, but a small amount of discharge willl
occur. It will only last for a day or two, and if it is not
prolonged it will not be a serious problem as there are usually
only a few spots here and there. It is normal for a female
hamster to experience this, and is not associated or linked
to any hamster disease or illness.
If your female hamster experiences longer periods of bleeding,
it may be due to a uterine infection. At this point, your
hamster should be taken to a veterinarian
immediately before the infection has a chance to get worse. |
