Hamsters which have ear infections will commonly appear
to lose their balance and sense of coordination. All animals
rely on their ears for balance, especially hamsters.
If the ear infection is unattended to over a period of
time serious complications can occur. There is nothing that
you can do for the hamster at your house to eleviate the
infection. The only treatment for an ear infection is to
take the hamster to a veternarian who can properly diagnose
it and recommend an antibiotic of some sort. Hopefully the
veterinarian will also be able to point you in the right
direction to determine the source of the infection. Without
doing so it is likely that the ear infection will reoccur
once the hamster has been reintroduced to its habitat.
