| Just like in humans, it is not possible to
predict if your hamster will have an allergic reaction to
certain foods or other items. Common signs include prolonged
sneezing or wheezing. The first place to look for the cause
of the allergic reaction would be the hamsters food. If you
have recently changed something in the diet of your hamster
that is most likely the cause and you may wish to try reverting
the changes you made to the hamsters diet. It may also be
a new item introduced into the hamsters cage or even the wood
chips or shavings that you line the cage with. Any changes
made recently should be evaluated to determine the cause.
If you are unable to determine the cause of the allergy a
trip to the veternarian is recommended. The veterinarian can
most likely determine the reason for the allergic reaction
and recommend steps to take to avoid it in the future.
