To help your
guinea pig remain healthy ensure that it always has
a supply of fresh and most importantly clean water.
The best way to provide this is with a bottle attached
to the side of the cage or enclosure. It is recommeneded
that you remove the bottle from the enclosure and completely
clean it on a daily basis when you fill it with fresh
water. This will reduce the risk of bacteria collecting
on it which could cause disease
or infection in your guinea pig.
A leaky bottle is not desirable in the habitat of your
guinea pig so it is recommended to use a bottle with
a ball-bearing inside the mouthpiece to stop the flow
of water unless the guinea pig is drinking from it.
If per chance you happen to house your guinea pig outside
and live in a climate where it gets cold in the winter,
be sure to check the bottle daily for signs of freezing.
It is best not to fill the bottle to the top as freezing
could cause the bottle to crack. |
