Mantella Frogs
will eat 2 or 3 times each day, but small feedings each time.
These frogs will eat more than they should, so be careful
to not overfeed them. Mantella Frogs need
a diet consisting of small insects, like crickets, small silkworms,
fruit flies etc. Dust them with a calcium supplement each
day, and a multi-vitamin supplement two times each week. Provide
clean water every day, in shallow containers, as these frogs
do not swim very well. |
You do not need to provide your
Mantella Frogs with a heat gradient, but
the temperatures should remain constant. During daytime hours,
keep the temperature at 78 degees F. Provide a 12 hour daytime
period. At night, drop the temperature to 65 degrees F. Mist
the enclosure every day to keep high humidity levels. These
frogs do not need full-spectrum lighting.
|
Your tank should be 5 gallons
for each Mantella frog in the tank. You must
provide an individual hiding spot for each frog as well. Use
a mulch, bark or large gravel type substrate. Provide them
with branches for climbing as well. |
| Do not handle these frogs without
wearing gloves. They may give off toxic excretions when feeling
threatened. |
