| Barking Tree Frogs make excellent
pets for the beginning frog keeper as they are very
hardy. Be prepared for some noise though as they
do make a barking sound which resembles that of

A variety of insects should be
fed to your Barking Tree Frog. These can
include crickets, mealworms, silkworms, superworms and waxworms.
Having a variety is important to keeping your frog healthy,
but be careful not too feed to many fatty insects.
A shallow bowl of water should be made available as Barking
Tree Frogs do enjoy taking a drink. |
A daytime temperature of 75
degrees F to 80 degrees F is satisfactory for Barking
Tree Frogs. At nightime a temperature drop of 10
degrees F or so is recommended.
Barking Tree Frogs have no specific lighting requirements
besides an uninterupted period of complete darkness during
the night. |
When planning a habitat for a
Barking Tree Frog take into consideration their climbing ability.
The habitat should be taller than it is wide and with plenty
of branches to allow your frog to climb around.
Be sure to have a place in the enclosure where your frog
can hide if it becomes scared. Barking Tree Frogs easily become
scared and you can tell by their color changing to a lighter
shade of green. As it is alleviated of the stress the color
will change back to its regular darker shade of green. |
