Like many terriers the Border
Terrier has two layers in its coat. The underlayer is soft
while the top layer is hard and wirey in texture. An interesting
point to note about these terriers is that their coat of hair
should never be trimmed. When their coat is trimmed serious
hair and skin problems can occur as a result. It is however
safe to trim the hair on the face, especially around the eyes.
Border Terriers make good pets because they are full of energy
and generally good natured. They do however require a great
deal of attention from their owners. In replacement of this
they can be kept with other dogs that also have a good deal
of energy to keep them occupied.
