The Airedale Terrier has a rough
outter coat like most terriers that is almost like a softer
version of a wire brush. The undercoat of the Airedale Terrier
is actually quite soft. When full grown it can weight up to
70 pounds making it the largest breed of terrier. In years
gone by its primary purpose was to help their owners in the
hunt for otters. It has also been used in the hunt of many
other animals including ducks, hare and rabbits because it
is a fast, strong dog that can be taught a variety of skills.
It was also used to assist police officers before the German
Shepard took over this role.
