The Somali cat belongs to the
Abyssinian family and is longhaired. Although their entire
body is longhaired their tail is especially long and bushy.
Many breeds of cats shed their entire coat either once or
twice each year, while the Somali coat does so gradually throughout
the year.
Although the Somali breed of cat is not one of the larger
cats it still needs a fair bit of room to move around. That
is because they are very active and alert cats by nature.
Because of this they usually enjoy to be kept outside as this
gives them plenty of room and freedom.
