When a Siamese cat was bred with
an American Shorthair the Snowshoe cat for formed. Early in
the 1960's was the first time the Snowshoe cats were bred.
Like many animals that are kept as pets the Snowshoe cat
will generally have one person in the household that they
will follow and pay the most attention to. They are very friendly
and sociable making them good choices for pets however they
do require a lot of attention to be paid to them. This makes
it hard or impossible to safely leave them alone for long
periods of time. For this reason they are not a practical
choice for all households.
