The American Curl has very unique
ears which actually curl or fold back away from the face of
the cat. This of course is where the American Curl gets its
name from. When the kittens are first born their ears go straight
up like most cats but within a week or so they begin to exhibit
the curl. Within a few months the kittens ears are curled
as far back as they every will and will stiffen up in that
position.
This breed of cat has only been around since the early 1980's
and was entered into shows soon thereafter. It can be found
in both longhair and shorthair versions.
